My name is Jessye.  I’m a student at Columbia University School of Social Work.  I’m currently participating in a Contemporary Social Issues course called “ISMS,” which seeks to explore the ways that we perpetrate, confront, play into, push against, make visible or invisible, various isms, including racism, sexism, ableism, classism, ageism, homophobia/heterosexism, among others.  As my final project for this course, I’m compiling this blogofolio to explore sexism, in particular, the elements of rape culture, harassment, sexuality, the male gaze, safety, and violence.
